Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Application Developer to join our team in MD. As a key member of the team, the Developer will lead the architecture and design of software applications and interface with the customers and developers supporting a range of software development activities including requirements analysis, technical architecture design, detailed software design, implementation, test and integration for new and existing systems.  Strong development experience using Java and other Open-Source technologies, as well as database experience, are critical qualifications for this position.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead team of developers to design and architecture software applications.
• Design, develop, test and integrate custom Javascript applications, developing innovative, scalable, secure enterprise custom applications.
• Interfaces with senior-level customer management and SMEs
• Designs and leads implementation of scalable, secure Java-based applications.
• Resolve complex design, implementation and/or performance issues.
• Work with the Information Security Organization to ensure that developed solutions meet all security requirements.
• Support all development and delivery activities, from requirements definition and specification to deployment and delivery to production.
• Consult with project teams and end users to identify new requirements; identify areas for improvements.
• Assist in identification and evaluation of new/emerging technologies, COTS products, development and testing tools.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or substitute eight years of additional equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of IT experience
• 4+ years of recent hand-on development experience in one or more of the following: Angular, React, Node, Vue.js
• 2+ years of recent hands-on Java development experience
• 3+ years of experience with SQL in databases such as MySQL and/or Postgres
• Strong interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with development teams and customers

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in applying Agile/Scrum methodology
• Web applications, SOA, web service RESTful development and deployment, JSON format
• Proficiency with cloud technologies (AWS Strongly preferred), Serverless architecture, Microservice design, Docker/Podman and containerized applications
• React, AngularJS, Node, Vue.js, JavaScript, jQuery
• JDBC, JPA, and/or Hibernate
• PL/SQL, T-SQL, PostgreSQL or PL/pgSQL
• Python (nice to have)
• Grails (nice to have)
